Apr 19, 2018April 17, 1958The Buffalo Garden Club and the Buffalo City Council urged residents to pick up cans and bottles from their yards throughout the season. There would be no rubbish alongside roads if people used a litterbag in their cars, according to the club. The Buffalo FFA Chapter won first place in the livestock judging contest of the Southwest Missouri Agricultural Contest. The contest was held on the Pipkins’ farm with Angus cattle, Berkshire hogs and Hampshire sheep.The Greene County Milk Producers Association worked with Kraft Foods to make a grade “A” intake facility in Springfield. The new intake facility provided a steady market for Ozarks dairymen to sell their grade “A” milk. Cantlon announced his candidacy for re-election as Dallas County coroner. Cantlon owned and operated the Jones-Cantlon Funeral Home since 1962 and served as coroner since 1964. The ladies physical fitness class was one of the most popular adult classes offered at Buffalo High School, so a second class was started at Louisburg. A total of 74 women were enrolled in the class designed to promote general health. Slightly less rigorous than the fitness class offered to high school girls, the adult class cost 50 cents per weekly session. April 20, 1978A hot meals program for seniors in Buffalo celebrated its first anniversary. Made by Kathy’s Cafe and served three days per week, a meal cost $1.50, or whatever portion of the cost the patron could afford.
